His books include Images and Symbols, The Myth of the Eternal Return, and Shamanism (all Princeton). David Gordon White is Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies, emeritus, at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His books include The "Yoga Sutra of Patanjali" A Biography.
