by Susan Polk Van Dusen (Author), John S. Polk (Illustrator)

Inspire your child to appreciate the importance and beauty of trees through original artwork and enchanting rhymes.

With the author's gentle, rhyming verse set alongside her late father's original artwork, What's So Special About a Tree? is a unique style of picture book that educates and entertains young children about the value of trees in our world.

After inheriting her father's art collection, the author selected 14 of his tree-themed pieces to incorporate into a picture book. The result introduces young readers to the wonder, beauty, and significance of trees. Adults can add to the storytime experience by sharing how trees vary in size, shape, and color, as well as discussing how trees provide basic needs, such as oxygen and shelter for animals.

The one-of-a-kind artwork includes watercolors, oil paintings and pencil drawings, along with a list of titles and a link to view additional pieces online. Adults, as well as children, will appreciate the realistic and whimsical trees portrayed in each lovely piece of art.
