Twelve & Se7vn - Paperback

by Brenda J. Farah Coleman (Author)

Twelve & Se7ven is a powerful, deeply personal memoir that traces the author's journey from a childhood shaped by silence, survival, and Southern traditions to a life strengthened by faith, resilience, and self-discovery. Set between Clarksdale, Mississippi and the quiet country roads of Louisiana, this unforgettable story follows a young girl who grows up hiding behind a door-observing, absorbing, and enduring the complex dynamics of a large African-American family rooted in love, secrets, and intergenerational trauma. Guided by the wisdom of her grandmother, the spiritual strength of her roots, and the unwavering hope she carried inside, she learns to navigate emotional hardship, a complicated relationship with her mother, the loss of matriarchs, and the search for identity. Through vivid memories of church Sundays, country visits, holiday traditions, and private fears, this memoir honors the sacred bond between grandmothers and granddaughters, the pain of childhood wounds, and the courage it takes to rise above the past. Honest, raw, and spiritually moving, Twelve & Se7ven is a testament to the endurance of the human spirit and a celebration of faith, resilience, and the quiet strength that carries children into adulthood and beyond.
