The River Between Times - Paperback

by James S. Wynecoop (Author)

When Tribal Police Officer Jalen "Jay" Stormrunner investigates a missing man at Iron River, the water flares with impossible light-and pulls him into the early 1800s, into the heart of an Inland Salish village untouched by the tragedies still waiting in their future. Invisible at first, Jay becomes a spirit-walker, seen only by a young woman named Weyan and feared by warriors who sense something shifting in the world.

As sickness creeps toward the village, fur traders arrive with dangerous gifts, and a mysterious wanderer blows a horn that calls both the living and the old spirits, Jay finds himself standing at the crossroads of two histories.

In the present day, a grave is disturbed.

A restless shadow awakens.

A boy is hunted by something older than memory.

Jay must protect both worlds-and the children who carry the future-while fighting a spirit that feeds on sorrow and a trespasser who has stolen a sacred artifact. But each time Jay changes something in the past, the present bends around him.

To save who must survive, Jay must decide how much of himself he is willing to lose-and whether the river brought him into history...or to become part of it.

A novel of history, spirit, culture, and the thin line between worlds, THE RIVER BETWEEN TIMES delivers suspense, heart, and a journey unlike any other.
