The End of the Road - Paperback

by B. M. Valdez (Author)

Notorious narcissist Plath Kauffman is desperate to maintain the impossible momentum of his historic rally race victory on the skytrack. The disappearance of the team's middleman, Devereaux, during the next season's first race throws Plath's life into chaos, triggering a landslide of events all aimed at making the most perfect rally star fall. In the aftermath, Plath struggles to maintain his prestigious career while juggling a seemingly perfect rookie team, dodging his team's illegal investor, and a debt he can't afford for a favor gone wrong. When Plath's search for answers uncovers the truth of what happened to Devereaux, he must sacrifice his fame, his fortune, and even his humanity for revenge.

But every race ends, and the end of the road is where night begins.

Haunted by the filth of his past and the ghost of his father, Devereaux Heisz leaves behind fame and fortune in the floating city to descend to the planet's hazardous surface, abandoned after the sun's heat ravaged the old world. Accompanied by his rally MOB, Devereaux journeys across dangerous terrain in search of night. Along the way, he discovers a surviving city built along an ancient road and reunites with a childhood friend he believed lost forever. Her plea for help presents him with a painful choice: continue pursuing his father's legacy and the elusive dream of "night," or stay and have a second chance at family. He must decide if pursuing his dream is worth the risk of leaving the community in a water crisis.
