Reckoning - Paperback

by V. M. Lafountain (Author)

The crown is a heavy inheritance-and some shadows don't stay buried.

Melodee was just a girl from Ohio until she crossed the veil into Eclarona, a realm of wild magic, dragons, and ancient fae. Now, as the "thrice-gifted" heir to the throne, she must trade her quiet life for a royal legacy she never asked for. But in a land where power rests with women and magic answers to the elements of air, fire, and light, Melodee quickly discovers that being a princess is more dangerous than any fairy tale suggests.

While her young daughter, Meagan, delights in riding royal carriages and dreaming of bonding with dragons, Melodee is haunted by the secrets her mother, Esme, left behind. A hidden journal reveals a dark history involving the Veiled Order-a group that once served justice but spiraled into a cycle of cruelty and betrayal. As Melodee uncovers the truth about the man her father killed to protect her, she realizes the greatest threats aren't the ones that come screaming.

With a war council fueled by soup and strategy, and joined by a chaotic clurichaun, a protective gnome, and her soulmate Mekonnen, Melodee must prepare for a turning point that will decide Eclarona's future. A shifting darkness is rising-one that wears a kind mask and speaks in whispers. To save her kingdom and her family, Melodee must learn that strength doesn't mean silence, and that some wounds go deeper than anyone knows.

In Eclarona, the shadows are moving. And they're coming for the Queen.
