R is for Rondo - Paperback
Description
by Jacklyn Milton (Author), Reyhana Ismail (Illustrator), Artika Tyner (Author)
Rondo is a historically Black neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota, that was nearly destroyed by the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 when I-94 was built through the middle of the neighborhood. The interstate separated this culturally rich and economically thriving neighborhood, displacing hundreds of Black people and destroying hundreds of Black-owned businesses.
But "C is for Community" and "D is for Determination," and Rondo is a testament to the resilience of a community powered by determination, leadership, and vision, and continues to create opportunities for a lasting future. R is for Rondo is a celebration of the history, culture, and people of a community that won't be broken.Care
