Pickles Cat Learns to Clean Up - Paperback
Description
by Kerry Howard (Author), Jonathan Bobrow (Illustrator)
In Pickles the Cat Learns to Clean Up, children follow Pickles as she discovers that caring for her environment is part of caring for herself and her community.
Set in a calm Montessori classroom, Pickles notices crumbs on the floor, misplaced work, and materials left unfinished. No one tells her what to do. No adult interrupts. Instead, she observes, chooses her tools, and begins.
Through sweeping, folding, carrying, and restoring order, Pickles experiences something deeper than "being helpful." She experiences responsibility - freely chosen.
This story reflects authentic Montessori principles:
- freedom within limits
- care of environment
- intrinsic motivation
- protected concentration
- independence without reward or correction
There are no behavior charts.
No forced lessons.
