Once Upon a Time in the Neighborhood: Tales of Adventure and Survival - Paperback

by Chuck de Los Santos (Author)

What do you get when you combine elements of The Breakfast Club, My Bodyguard, Good Will Hunting, Sixteen Candles, The Warriors, and Bad Boys with Sean Penn? You get Once Upon a Time in the Neighborhood: Tales of Adventure and Survival, a refreshing new twist on a coming-of-age story based on real-life events during the late seventies and early eighties.

A young boy named Chuck strives to improve his life by surviving the streets of Chicago and graduating high school. Although he lives in a relatively safe, up-and-coming neighborhood, it can be rough as areas dominated by gangs surround it. Leaving the safety of his neighborhood could be dangerous, but there are so many fun things to do, and he loves to explore.

When he encounters an unexpected event that should secure his graduation and chance at a brighter future, what he must endure has life-altering consequences. Chuck must find inspiration and strength to overcome adversity if he wants to succeed and, more importantly, survive.

Incorporating songs from the times, this inspirational journey has a rock opera vibe that evokes fond memories of past eras, music that has become classic, and a neighborhood that once was.
