My Covering - Paperback

Deborah and Lee are about to embark on a short-term mission trip. Their church has been partnering with a church congregation in a little city in Haiti named Jacmel. They have long anticipated the day that their sister church in Haiti would be ready. Pastor Donnie, who normally makes the trip to check on the church's progress, is sick and cannot go to check on the church's progress. Pastor Donnie asks Minister Lee and his wife, Deborah, to go in his place to check on the finished project and to make plans to celebrate the new church's opening. The only dilemma is having to leave Brice with Nana Lydie.

Brice loves to go by Nana, but this will be his first time being away from his parents for a week. The most he has spent with Nana was a weekend. Lee finally convinces little Brice that he will be fine and that he and Mom will call him every day to check on him.

Finally, the day comes for Brice and Ava to go by Nana. Lee and Deborah drop the kids off in the evening before their flight. Little Brice realizes he forgot to pack his favorite cover--the one he always brings by Nana. Upset, little Brice wants to go home and get his cover. Lee and Deborah must make their flight, and they reassure Brice he will be fine. Nana Lydie tells Lee and Deborah not to worry. She tells little Brice she has a cover that he can never lose. Nana Lydie catches little Brice's attention long enough to pique his interest.

"A cover I can never lose? How can that be?" little Brice asks.

"You mean your dad didn't tell you?" Nana asks.

"No, Nana, he did not, but can I have it? Can I have it?" Brice asks excitedly.

"Yes, luv, you can have it, if only you believe."
