The first 3 months at the Research Institute FANAR in Beirut, followed by practical fieldwork in North-Lebanon and the establishment of a Regional Laboratory in Tripoli. The fascinating beauty of this small country situated between mountains and the Mediterranian Sea and harbouring so many ethnic groups is described. But also the disturbing situations during the Civil War in Spring and the October War hampering work and family activities are elucidated.
