by James Johnston (Author)

Grenfell of Labrador is a book written by James Johnston and published in 1908. The book is a biography of Wilfred Grenfell, a British physician who dedicated his life to providing medical care to the people of Labrador, a remote region in northeastern Canada. Grenfell's work in Labrador began in 1892 when he arrived in the area as a medical missionary. He quickly realized that the people of Labrador were in dire need of medical care, and he devoted himself to improving their health and living conditions. The book chronicles Grenfell's life and work in Labrador, including his efforts to build hospitals, clinics, and schools, as well as his work to improve transportation and communication in the region. The book also details Grenfell's many adventures in Labrador, including his travels by dog sled and his encounters with the native Inuit people. Throughout the book, Johnston provides a vivid and detailed account of Grenfell's life and work, painting a picture of a man who was deeply committed to helping others and who made a lasting impact on the people of Labrador.
