Description

by Cal Bowen (Author)

A pulp-paced, magical detective adventure novel that contains a hidden world of magic, found family, and a pair of lead characters that are just trying to find their place in the world.

A police detective and an old friend has a strange case for the duo of Detective Charlene 'Charley' Warlock - an amateur magical detective with unique powers - and Ashley Kincaid - an antique store owner who deals with magical artifacts.

A group of children have been kidnapped from a local orphanage, and the police are baffled as to the 'who' and the 'why'. Warlock and Kincaid investigate because the case involves children, as well as ties back to their own past lives before they met one another. Along they way, they discover more about a hidden organization that is seeking out magical artifacts and they find a child who is more than she appears yo be.

Set in the fictional city of St. Constantine, Florida, during the 1940s, this is written in the style of the older pulp novels and stories found in the older pulp magazines, but they have been written for the present state-of-mind reader.

The series is for readers who enjoy a partner detective series similar to Sherlock Holmes & Doctor Watson along with the pulp adventure style writing in a post-WWII urban fantasy setting.
