There she meets the devious Harmonia and discovers the sanctuary is not a sanctuary at all, but a prison for the comet-borns like Luna herself.
After Luna escapes the sanctuary, she is determined to save the imprisoned comet-borns so they won't be sold to enrich Harmonia. Putting herself into harm's way, she saves the comet-borns.
As the other comet-borns rebuild their lives and use their gifts from the comet, Luna despairs that her own gift, entering portals of the dead, is useless. What can she do? Where does she belong? Will she ever find a home and a purpose for her own life?
