by Thaer Husien (Author)
Beside the Sickle Moon is a tale set in near future Palestine, exploring the complexities of apartheid through the eyes of Laeth Muhammad Awad, a Palestinian living above his convenience store. Alongside his cousin Aylul, Laeth discovers Israel's plans to build a luxury hotel in their village, igniting a struggle that plunges them into guerilla warfare. Aylul's belief in direct action leads them to form Al Mubarizun, a diverse resistance group, while Laeth grapples with existential questions alongside the Forgotten Ones-a movement advocating coexistence. Torn between ideologies, Laeth's journey reveals the intricate dynamics of loyalty, sacrifice, and identity in occupied land. Beside the Sickle Moon is a compelling narrative that challenges notions of resistance, offering readers a thought-provoking exploration of the human spirit amidst suffocating adversity.
