Author Biography
James Oliver Curwood (1878-1927) was one of America's most popular wilderness adventure writers and an early conservationist, fighting for ecology long before it became the popular movement of today. He wrote thirty-three books, including "The Grizzly King," the 1916 novel on which the 1989 film "The Bear" is based, and which has been reissued by Newmarket Press under the title "The Bear: A Novel."
