Such teaching arose in certain new movements and appeared in articles in the Christian press of his day. These studies were first written in the closing years of the 19th Century. Thus what he refers to a 'The Modern Movement' relates to what had arisen in the United Kingdom at that time. However, some of those errors of that 'Modern Movement' persist today and so much of what he wrote then is relevant and helpful to 21st Century Christians.
