His last years were spent in Switzerland, where he completed his two poetic masterworks, the \u003ci\u003eDuino Elegies \u003c\/i\u003eand the \u003ci\u003eSonnets to Orpheus\u003c\/i\u003e. He died of leukemia in December 1926. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eEdward Snow\u003c\/b\u003e is a professor of English at Rice University.
