Nagueyalti Warren, Professor of Pedagogy emerita in African American Studies, Emory University, is a poet whose publications include, Margaret, winner, Naomi Long Madgett Poetry Award; Braided Memory winner, Violet Reed Haas Poetry Award. She is author of Lodestar New and Selected Poems and Witness: Poems, and editor of Temba Tupu! (Walking Naked) The Africana Women's Poetic Self-Portrait. Her poetry has appeared in Essence Magazine, Cave Canem Anthology, The Ringing Ear, Obsession, and 44 on 44. She is a Cave Canem fellow. Warren also is author of a forthcoming debut novel, Water winner of the Steel Toe Books Fiction Prize. W.E.B. Du Bois: Grandfather of Black Studies and Alice Walker's Metaphysics: Literature of Spirit are monographs authored by Warren. Her short story "Husband of her Youth" appeared in aaduna Magazine, her story "Namesake" in Midnight & Indigo, and her short story "Remembering (Evidence of things Unseen)" is forthcoming in Kinsman Review.
