The city of Lynchburg sits within Campbell County and was created in 1786 but not incorprated until 1805. While Nelson was created in 1808 from Amherst county. Lynchburg Will Book "A" covers the period 1809-1830, the first Marriage Book of the city of Lynchburg begins in 1807 through 1828, and Deed Book A of the city of Lynchburg covers the period of 1805-1813. The Nelson County records include Will Book A, Deed Book 1 and the marriage records all from 1807-1831.
